The Voice

The Voice is an American reality television singing competition broadcasted on NBC. It premiered on April 26, 2011. The show is based on the original Dutch version called The Voice of Holland and has since become a global franchise due to its highly appealing format. In the United States, the program has gone through 19 seasons.

The Voice aims to discover current singing talents (solo or duet, both professional and amateur) aged 13 and above, recruited from public auditions.

The contestants who advance further are coached by 4 mentors who are successful American singers. Some of the notable names among the show’s judges include Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, Usher, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Nick Jonas.

The winner is determined by television viewers through voting via phone, internet, SMS text messaging, and the iTunes Store (when purchasing the recorded performances of the artists).

The viewership of the show remains strong, as it still attracts nearly 10 million viewers for the most recent season, with the finale airing in May 2020.
